Does anyone realize that our generation (current college-age) will probably be the last generation with corded phones (or rotary phones, in my case); the last generation to remember DOS, or Windows 3.11 or the original Warcraft.

We'll know what it was like to watch Clinton in office, or to see the Gulf War; we remember what life was like without mp3's and the DMCA...

That's all I can think of.

What other generation-specific technologies, items or events are being phased out or forgotten that you can think of?

I always dialed out on a rotary phone, got one tv station and went nutty when I got my VIC 20.

So it's all relative.

I remember that! I remember getting my first handmedown 486 when I was 14... the first porn I downloaded was some nude picture of some cartoon character...

Everything was so new and arousing then.

Oh, yes, I also remember Lord of the Rings II, and how awesome it was when we first got it... or what an improvement Windows 98 was over 95.

We'll have to explain to our kids how we had to use BBS'es 'back in the day'... and how you couldnt use the internet and the phone at the same time! we lived like cavemen.

Does anyone remember Kangaroo & North Star Shoes? The Kangaroo were the first ones with the velcro & a zipper pocket on the shoe and the North Stars were the suede runners where when you had the blue one and walked in the rain your socks turned blue.
