Looks like it has a DVI output as well as RGB. So where does it say it has only analog output.

Guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you all saying that it does not have SLI capability because of the front pic that has a sticker over the SLI connector????? Or becase it actually says that it does not support SLI somewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I think Newegg screwed up the specs. The pic shows one DVI and one RGB connector. But the specs say 2 DVI. I think they have the wrong spec sheet for this card. Or other things wrong. Like the price.

It does actually say it does not support SLI in hardware mode.

Newegg did not screw up the specs, other sites have this card too. Unless there is a mass screwup, I think newegg recorded the specs (speed-wise) correctly.

I know people don't like speculation, but I'm going to take a guess and say the only difference is SLI in hardware mode.

It probably cannot run it due to hardware limitations that either evga set to save money or leftover cards that didn't pass some SLI test. Hence, the sticker and the words "SLI Supported Only support software SLI and not hardware SLI."

Specs also say:

DVI 2

But I only see one. If that it wrong, other info can be wrong as well. Just sayin.

There are 16 pipes in the G73 core.See HERE for example.

We know that a 7600 Series refresh is coming soon, in September, possibly on 80nm core. My optimistic scenario is a 7650 GTX or 7700GT with 16 unlocked pipes. Anyway, it's now or never for the 16 pipes to be enabled in the G73 core, as the coming refresh is certainly the last call for mid-range DX9 NVidia cards.

I meant actual pipes, not physical.

Here is an almost-GT 7600GS that just appeared on NewEgg

Chaintech GSE76GS-A1 Geforce 7600GS 256MB

All it needs is the obvious 100 Mhz memory overclock...and Voilà ! a 7600GT is born.

Probably, NVidia sells the 7600GS chips to its partners for less than the 7600GT chips. Some manufacturers might be using the best-binned of these GS chips to build GT-like cards at a reduced cost, hence the lower selling price. This could also be the explanation for the EVGA 7600GTS.

Heh, it even has dual DVI just like the GT. The board makers sure are having fun with the names :)

Very plausible conclusion!

The price is decent but you can get a BFG 7600GT OC at Newegg for the same price after rebate(114.50) which seems to me to be a better deal. The GTS is I think basically a GS with DDR3 memory.

Bill

Newegg did not screw up the specs, other sites have this card too. Unless there is a mass screwup, I think newegg recorded the specs (speed-wise) correctly.

Actually newegg and the other sites (I think the other sites copied newegg, and not all sites say that) got it wrong about the SLI. The card does have an SLI bridge connector and I was going to order a second one and was worried about the software SLI comment so I emaile EVGA tech support and this is what they said:

"Answered By Jacob K (9/22/2006 12:15:21 AM): You can run SLI without the SLI bridge, but it would not be as effective as using the bridge, because you are then making the bus do more work, instead of doing the load balancing through the bridge. The card does have a bridge connection, and the bridge should have been included with the motherboard. Let us know if you have anymore questions. EVGA Customer Service"

The 7600 GTS does support SLI in hardware mode. You just need to remove the sticker on the bridge connector. My second 7600 GTS is coming in the mail tomorrow and I will double verify. Also, for those wondering, this card matches all the specs of the GT cards, 12 pipes, 560Mhz core/1400Mhz mem, it just shows as a GS to the drivers. (and the only difference in the GS and GT 7600 cards are the clock speeds, both have 12 pipes

I have zero regrets buying this card. It was $129.99 vs BFG $149.99 card. It also has a mail in rebate that makes it around 100 bucks.

I can play F.E.A.R maxed out in 1024x768, I noticed it was running 4x FSAA, and didn't even realize it was on. I can also play Oblivion in medium just fine, and it looks great. I haven't even tried high.

The card will Overclock easily to the BFG Tech 7600 GT speeds without even going higher in temps. I could crank it up even higher, but there is no reason since it runs everything I play at stock.

It runs around 55-65 c in games, I'm getting a better case with two 80mm fans, and a 120 mm fan as we speak which should make it even better.

No regrets here, if you play in 1280x1024 or 1024x768 this card is great.

Yay! Another confusing nVidia number scheme!

There's a good possiblity that that card is a one-off they are dumping through Newegg, might be a slighlty defective run of 7600GT GPUs

Runs pretty good for a slightly defective card :)

Not a nvidia scheme, its more of an EVGA scheme! :p
