i've heard of this happening before, but never bother to look...just got my XFX 6800, stock it pulls about 8k in 3dmark03, but when i OC to 360/800, my score is cut in half....what he hell?

edit-just ran 05 @ 360/800, scored a measly 2500. i know i'm cpu limited, as i'm running on the second rig in my sig (the p4-2.5, but with 1gig ram, and the mobo is only 4x agp.) i'd accept that 05 score for now, but i want to know why my 03 score dropped like that. my temps are fine, never breach 70c.

its not overheating, most 6800nu's hit 70 with stock cooling. thats a pretty measly overclock anyway, i highly doubt i'm at the limits of the card.

Well, I don't know if this will sink in or not, but, 326MHz core could be the limit on that card. You never know. It is possible that you have a card that "just" made it for 6800nu specs and just missed being binned to the 6800LE version. You never know what you get. Either Great silicon or just making it silicon.
Saying that you highly doubt your at the limits of the card doesn't make any sense, when you could very well be incredibly "over" the limit already. Your Mileage May Vary is a very true statement.

Merry Xmas.

thats a scary thought =/
i love how XFX flaunts "extreme overclocking" all over the box...
ok, lets say thats the case...i've set it back to stock clocks now and my score hasn't gone back up...uhg

Ooohh thats not good. Just for thoroughness, run driver cleaner and reinstall the latest WHQL drivers from nvidia's website. NOT BETAS. I think the latest is 66.93's.
Then run your card at stock speeds. Keep in mind that you are limited a bit with a 1.8a even o/c'd to 2.5.

Good Luck

thank for the replies Keys...funny you should recommend that, i though of the same thing about half an hour ago, and after reverting to 66.93, to my utter suprise, i'm back to 8.1k in 03, 3158 in 05. thanks for the help. yeah i realized i've got a big CPU weight, next week i'll be on my main rig and will be able to get alot better #'s.

merry christmas to you as well =D
