Whoa...there is an alternative to get out of a cell phone contract

well, i'm not gonna be the one to try it out. god knows someones going to find out that its in the contract that if your roaming is above a certain number of minutes, you'll get charged.

That's pretty cool. I remember with my old phone you could go into the hidden settings by pressing 0 at the menu then typing all zeros for the password (I think) and you could change different features that Verizon didn't want people to change. One of those features was to force roam. :p

When you consider the fact that you are still paying your provider $50-100 a month for service that you dont like/want/need, and it takes a minimum of 3 months to get them to cancel your contract then you have already paid the same or more money in bills than if you just cancel the damn contract.

Yeah but the general reasons to switch providers are better service and better price, so why keep your crappy or overpriced service with the hope you get disconnected? Also what do you do if you live in the city? Drive out to the country so you can roam. This will certainly cost more money in the form of time and energy.

not for big companies that end up having to terminate service due to no towers locally.

use your free roaming and get out of the contract.
