A little while ago I posted about how my monitor was on the fritz and about to die, anyway, something REALLY WEIRD just happened...

The screen did a strange flicker then the whole screen went black, and right in the center of the screen, there was a horizontal bar that was a really bright white with a slight hint of orange in it.

Remember on old TV's when you shut them off you would get that weird flicker that looked just like this. Only on my screen, it stayed there for about 2 minutes!

I thought the monitor just died, but then it went back to normal.

Anyone have anything like this happen to them before?

i'm guessing your connection is messed up, which is what caused the fritzing. at my school there was a monitor that did something similar, and i just jostled the connection on back of the monitor and it seemed to go away.

It's not that your posts suck.

It's just that your onitor is very old & it's time for it to die.

Take it as a sign for you to get it replaced with a new 17" or 19".:)

All the connections are fine, its something inside the monitor.

I took the cover off the monitor to blow out some of the dust, but was so scared of killing myself by touching anything that I just put the cover back on.

yea, well, that'd be like fixing a fried motherboard, or any component for that matter. unless you're an EE major, i'd say get a new monitor now or when it breaks for good.

Yeah, I hear that some of the capacitors inside monitors can deliver quite a jolt. I would never go anywhere near trying to fix a monitor.

That's comical. I used to have an old 32 inch Sony Trinitron XBR TV... one day, it all of a sudden did something similar to what you described, but it went to this tiny littl green dot in the centre. I was like, oh, sh!t.

Had to replace it with a new Trinitron. I love those TV's.
