And I just did something that I will never, ever, even think about doing again.

I was behind the wheel of my friend's 03 Cobra, and some jackass in an STi cut me off and then got next to me and motioned to race. I was reluctant to even think about it, but peer pressure got to me, and we took off from a redlight.

Literally the scariest thing I've ever, ever done. I hit 95 and he was lengths behind me, and I backed off a few seconds later. I don't even know what I actually got to. The scariest part is that afterwards my adrenaline was going so we were playing the roadrage game for like 10 minutes afterwards.

I'm usually a good driver, I never do anything illegal (5 over is my limit). But this was just fucking stupid. I don't even think I'm going to drive his car again, because honestly....hitting 95 in that car was so ridiculously easy that I didn't even notice until I glanced at the tach and saw the needle on the speedo.

Someone else tell me that this was stupid, because my friend is just telling me that it was fun.

Its always fun until something happens or you get caught. I got caught a while ago and stopped doing it, you learn the hard way.

Ohh sorry I didnt know you wanted to race. I was conserving gas and just cruising. I thought all the noise was just your ford breaking down. :p

you should turn yourself in at the police station for street racing, you could have killed somebody, like an entire family and thier cherished family dog. and by entire family i mean grandma, gramps, mom, dad, sis, bro, little sis, aunty, crazy uncle and a cute little puppy. you monster you.

It happens to people sometimes... don't fret on it too much, but just recall it when the situation comes up the next time.

But hey, you won ;).

You're lucky a cop was not nearby. Tickets for racing are very costly and they can also get you for reckless driving and speeding.
So between the fines and points you could end up with a suspended license right on the spot with an impounded car in some states.

That's the only reason it was scary. The actual act of quadrupling the speed limit was wicked, but the ticket I could have gotten, jesus christ.

It is always best to stop if a cop tries to pull you over for an offense. If you try to run, you will end up with more tickets, including evading arrest. And it is very hard to outrun a police radio or helicopter. Better to stop soon and hope for an easy out.

no sh!t?

Fun, but dumb at the same time.

I read that you quadrupled the speed limit. Were you just exaggerating or were you really doing 95 in a 25?

=[

At least 110 total, easy. When we were racing, there were no other cars in either direction.

I raced a Nissan Frontier on the way to work today. It's been raining and nasty here in DFW, but anyhow, I was driving in the right-hand lane, anticipating a right turn at an intersection a couple blocks up. I take off from the light, and my 15" front tires aren't the best in the rain (need to be replaced), so I spun them a wee bit on the damp road, made it look like I was trying to race I guess, because the Nissan truck to my left starts to rev like crazy. I thought it was funny, so I kept the gas down pretty hard and trying to balance grip/acceleration as best I could, we were pretty close, although he was easily able to put more power down due to his large aftermarket truck tires. Anyway, I thought for sure he was angling to make a right turn, but no, he just went straight as I turned right. Weird :)

It wasn't a crazy race by any means, I doubt a cop would have pulled us over for it if he had seen us. The speed limit was 45, and we didn't go past 50 :)

it's fun and games until someone gets his eyes poked out. that is unless you're the one doing the eye poking.

If you're scared because it was on a populated street, you should be. If you liked the excitement... Go find a LEGAL road-racing track around you someplace, you'll never regret it. Trust me.
