Damn disassembling the whole fvcking box just to get the darn hs/fan off of that socket A is just plain annoying. 😱
Now Athlon 1400 is replaced by Athlon XP 2400+ and I feel better now and my SETI times have improved. Makes me feel it was worth the fuss. 😀

Your better off taking the whole thing apart. I cheated one time too many and damaged a motherboard once. Now I always take it apart and remove or replace the hs/fan.

After two useless attempts these were my thoughts too. One more advantage: You can easily clean every component and the case with a regular vacuum cleaner. While doing so I wondered why it didn't overheat in the old config. 😛

Watch for static on that wet/dry vacuum. Especially if it has a plastic tube.

I have been shocked many times, so I won't let it near my system. High speed dry air moving up a plastic, ungrounded tube can build up millions of volts.
