Japan is supposed to be a technologically advanced country, why did so many people have CRT televisions?

That's awesome, crazy how it does not take long for nature to reclaim. I always thought it would be cool to actually go visit a place like that, with proper PPE.

This aerial photo taken by a drone shows one of the dump sites that contain thousands of bags of contaminated soil
.....which appears to be right next to the ocean.

Oh well, there's probably nothing to worry about. Tsunamis and earthquakes never happen twice in the same area.

:\

Hopefully GenIV reactors see the light of day.

FUCK these website developers that detect my mobile device and make pages disable my ability to pinch and zoom or disable my ability to view the desktop version. You fucking idiot web developers think you're "optimized" for my device's screen size by over-riding my ability to view your content the way I please.

MY EYES ARE BAD AND I WANT TO SEE SOME DETAILS IN YOUR MOTHERFUCKING PICTURES. Wouldn't it be nifty if I could use the 2-finger zoom function that every smartphone supports? It sure would be!

"Request desktop site" from iOS Safari does nothing on that site because some web developer is a fucking idiot.

I would imagine all of the soil that got pushed over hard surfaces allowed for rapid growth of small vegetation. Not surprising. I would have thought the Japs would have been good, though, about doing their damn yard work.

Cool pictures and I totally believe them. Our house was vacant for close to one year before we bought it and the back yard was on its way to be reclaimed by the small strip of Forrest nearby. The picture doesn't show the several small trees that were growing. The grass and weeds were about 3 feet high in the back close to the trees.

The house had spider webs everywhere. I spent several hours vacuuming up spider webs on three different occasions.

**we have a CRT TV in the bedroom**
And there was one left in the basement when we bought the house.

I think if you use something like Firefox there is a setting to override website settings that try to force zoom control. Don't have my Android phone on me to test it though.

I am not sure if it's my browser or what, but did anyone else notice that if you scroll up and down on the photo with the pile of TV's, that the one just left of the center brown one, moves back and forth?

weird.

So, is that high, low, middle of the road?

That is elevated, though not scary at all.

Over a year the natural background would give you about 2mSv (depends on where you live) or 0.22uSv/h.

My yearly maximum allowed by law over the background (in canada as a nuclear worker) is 20mSv (technically this is the 5 year max divided by 5, rather than the higher one year max).

20000/6.7 = 2985hours ~ .35 (a third) of a year to get to the amount of dose I'm allowed in a year (one that is considered safe).

Edit, corrected that damn decimal place...
