Well I recently got a new Thermaltake wingo case. has 5 fans so I figured my P3 would run cooler than the other case with 1. well its about 2-3c cooler! Not quite what I was expecting:frown: Now just what does it take to cool this thing? its about 84F room temp. would a new fan and heatsink solve problems? This one constantly spins at 6500 or more rpms. seems a bit tired😛

umm what? my heatsink is limiting my cooling is that what you said? Well I know that im jsut wondering if that link above would be a good fan/heatsink comob to cool it off. As once it goes back to the old case(when I use the new one for my new comp) its gonna be around 40c again. managed to get it nearer to 30c now with all the fans on it

I wouldn't spend more that $15 on a P3 heatsink (and only if I really needed the box)

edit: in your case, I'd just want to lower the noise level. I've got a 933P3 running the hsf I linked above, in a really old case with a 300W psu, the psu is the only thing pulling air through the case and w/74~78F ambient the load temps never go above 45C. The only thing I hear @ 3ft is the psu fans low humm. (the p3 box is hosting my web site)

well its gonna be my moms hopefully soon. jsut when I put it back in its old case Id like to cool it down a bit. I never realised it got so hot. besides its her money thatl pay for it. She doesnt use the comp enough to need anything faster so shes not gonna buy another comp. Buying a new fan would probably help its life span to😛

The Speeze HS is probably fine....
I wouldn't waste your money on a Volcano 9 cause your mom probably won't appreciate the racket that the smart fan II makes.

When you put it back in your old case, take the time to route all your wires and cables neatly so they won't obstruct airflow. P3's don't run very hot under normal conditions.

then just get an all copper hs, run fan slow. cut out old case fan grillls. it comes from a time when hs weren't all copper and weren't all that great. cases had poor ventilation to boot. can't waste much on it since frys combos gets you new m/b and athlon xp 2000+ and hs for like 59 total you know. a combo that would spank that p3.

shes not gonna be bother by the noise. dont ahve any fan grills to cut out actually. and I never had to worry about wiremanagement cuase theirs not enough wires to get in the way. thanks for the replys but Ill just see which one she buys. Gotta be better than whats on it right now

well the front panel sorta flairs at the front so it pulls air outta the bottom where theres a space(its not the original case) then I was gonna put one on the back and id be ok.
