Who woulda thunk it? Tommy Chong charged for selling bongs

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 11 ? Comedian Tommy Chong has been sentenced to nine months in federal prison and fined $20,000 for selling bongs and other drug paraphernalia over the Internet. Chong will be told in a few weeks where he?ll have to report to prison.

CHONG, who?s 65, pleaded guilty to conspiring to sell drug paraphernalia and pleaded guilty on behalf of his company, Nice Dreams Enterprises.
The company will be sentenced later today.
There?s no word on how this will affect Chong?s reunion with Cheech Marin.
The two reportedly have been writing a script for a movie.

I was wondering the same thing. They're legal here in Portland too if they are sold as "Tobacco Water Pipes" - I used to work in a "head shop", actually.

He must have been selling them in a place where they're prohibited, or including some sort of paraphernalia that could ONLY be used for marijuana.

It's called making an example of him. The DEA's utter inability to do anything about drugs is shining proudly in this decision.

Its a "selling over the internet thing". Youre right you can still buy at your local headshops, not online. Go get em.
DOJ got dozens of companies in a big sting, sorry I cant remember the cool operation name.

Talk about an inappropriate sentence. People get less for selling Pot in most states.
