I think the cat might be able to tackle a bit better and scratch with its back legs. However, the chicken would peck the crap out of the cat.

Roosters have natural spurs on the back of their legs about 2" long. They rip the crap out of each other when they fight. very bloody. Cat would probably win, but a lot depends on the cat, and whether it's an ambush, or a pit fight. We had Banty chickens when I was a kid, when the roosters would fight, it was a bloody mess. They are not afraid of anything, we had a couple go head on against a skunk that got in the chicken coop and chased it away.

I dunno I've seen some beefy roosters with thick legs that were mean as hell, and If you've seen a rooster fighting, they're very aggressive and territorial.

Hell they all out attack people.

I really don't think a cat would stick around long to fight.

If you line then up head to head and let them at it pit style... dunno, might be close. Cat could have an advantage in that they'll often go for the throat.

I think none of you have actually been to a farm, I have seen actual fights between barn cats and the rooster. The rooster has won every time. Now these arent fights to the death but the only time I would think that you would see that would be if the cat was defending newborn kittens.
