Who would kill for a revamped Xwing game?

I remember playing Xwing vs Tie fighter and Xwing Alliance all the time. If they updated the graphics they would have killer game. That said, I'm going to find the old disks and see if I can get them to work. :)

I wouldnt kill anybody for a game. Thats sick.

Having said that: The one thing I want more than anything else in the world is for LucasArts to make another game that ISN'T MMO.
A new Tie Fighter would suit me just fine.

We were just strolling down memory lane in a another thread, about the glory days of Tie Fighter and X-Wing titles. Some of us still consider them among the most fun titles ever. They were the reason I didn't vote in Apoppin's thread the first few days, because Lucas Arts wasn't on the list. Ended up voting for id because Smilin made a compelling argument, but I have never been more immersed in a game, than I was with those. At the time I thought the graphics were great, sitting in the dark, the flashes and burst of fire and explosions. *sigh*

Star Wars Galaxies Jump to Lightspeed part of the game is essentially X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter Online.

Screw X-wing alliance...rebel scum. Now, TIE fighter I would kill for. It was an amazing game way back when, especially with the lack of Star Wars games from the Imperial perspective.

OMG I almost lost a job a long time ago because I kept staying up all night to play, can you imagine a 32 player chunk of space duking it out tie fighter style. OMG that would be sooo awesome

I'd prefer a Tie-Fighter remake/sequel like Imp, but and X-Wing would be cool do. I think I still have the old discs somewhere. And my classic gaming binge continues!

There are a lot of games that could be remade with a new graphics engine and a few gameplay polishes that would be more fun and sell better than a lot of the crap that gets put out these days.

Ah, the remake. Getting a bit too close to the movie industry...

Yep... I, for one, would welcome it.

With today's graphics? Yup, that would kick my ass for sure. It's weird the Lucas hasn't gone back to the well on these games. Maybe they're afraid that too many people have turned joystick-phobic. :)

Man, I loved both X-Wing and TIE Fighter games. I just started reading the Rogue Squadron series and I was thinking about those games. I'd buy them if LucasArts made new X-Wing and TIE Fighter games. I remember loving getting the medals and ribbons and stuff!

I loved Tie Fighter too. Actually, I've modified all the mission files so I can play in a gunboat, T/A or T/D. I figure, if the Alliance is hurting for war material and I manage to disable one and tow it back, why can't I use it and free up my xwing for someone else?

Those games were awesome. I remember someone put out a bunch of updated models for most of the spacecrafts in-game, which helped boost the visuals a bit. But still, these games are classics, and today the genre is pretty much dead. Lucas Arts definitely should make more.

I would kill a puppy, no never, but I would really like another Tie Fighter, I say screw the rebels too. I played that game religiously for years and couldn't get enough. I think I was in Junior High when that game came out, I can't remember.

Box art and write up for memories sake for the win: Tie Fighter

X-wing was good, and the B-wing add-on was cool, but Tie Fighter made X-Wing vs Tie and Alliance look like piles of trash.

The missions and story of Tie Fighter were so much better and it seemed so much more fluid. That engine they used for the later games just never seemed fluid even on good hardware.

Never played just Tie Fighter, but I loved X-wing vs. Tie and Alliance. Oh the joy it would bring to see those in the current gen :)

I still think of TIE Fighter as the greatest game of all time. I remember installing it off of 6 3.5" diskettes, then later I upgraded to the CD version. And just recently I bought the Collectors Edition (found it at Half Price Books for $8).

ahhh...I remember the magical days of figuring out all the copy protection codes were stored in the frontend.ovl file and if you just loaded it up in a hex editor and blanked out the codes you could just bypass the screen. I actually owned it (for once) but it was a PITA having to look stuff up in the book to play the game.

Loved X-Wing, but it was hard as hell for me because I played it with keyboard and mouse. Then came TIE Fighter and that kicked ass. Missile boat was AWESOME! I liked Interceptor too, although it didn't have any shield. X-Wing vs Fighter sucked ass. It didn't have the spirit of the first two games. X-Wing Alliance was OK, but it was no TIE Fighter.
