Hmmm....interesting. However, my personal choice for my next GPU is not going to be based on any of this "political" crap. It is going to be based on Performance/IQ comparison of the retail FX5900Us vs 9800 pro 256MB in game benches.

The problem is what defines an optimization? And what defines a cheat? Nvidia not clipping the plane correctly because it knows what will be shown is a cheat by many standards. How is ATI providing thier own hand tuned shader program not a cheat?

Afterall the Nvidia "cheat" didnt degrade the picture quality in the sense of normal operation in 3dmark03. It was only when you bent the demo using the dev version of the program.

IMO they are both cheats and it is hilarious watching people defend ATIs cheat while chastizing Nvidia.

Why are they both cheats? Because none of the optimizations\cheats benefits any real world application or game. It only determines the executable and loads the hand tuned garbage and inflates the scores. Just changing versions of the program negated the benefit.

Both cheated. Nvidia is the bad guy and ATI apparently saved face by admitting to cheating and removing said code from thier next driver release.

Anyone who has their opinion formed based on the whole 3DMark fiasco is a weakminded fool IMO and probably not a real gamer. And The Inquirer is to hardware reporting as The National Enquirer is to traditional journalism. You're an even bigger fool if you read their trash, errr, I mean reports.

Btw, I was not inferring that you had made any decisions based on the 3DMark fiasco or the illegimate reporting of The Inq Rogozhin. I was making a blanket statement only. :)
