If I remember correctly, pontifex was the name of an encryption algorithm used in the book Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson

Admit it. You love this game ;)

i've never even seen screenshots of it, let alone played it.

What are you waiting for?

How do you do Level 10?

Normally? I don't know. But I finally got something to work.
Schematic
Aftermath

Yes, it actually passes.
I couldn't build any "reasonable" structure that was within budget.
This method uses a bunch of struts that collide with the river bottom. Many get crushed, as you can see by the number of broken links there.
But the train passes all 4 times.
This is on the "Hard" setting, too.

There also appear to be some clipping issues.
One car fell through the deck, and another is being dragged on its side. The train actually completed this pass, but then accordioned during the next pass.

Another update: I managed to do lvl10 for exactly $85000. I replaced some struts with heavy steel.
Replaced:
- Side support triangles
- Two vertical struts near the center
- Vertical strut in the center

Result - and it actually passes all four times.

The Sickness - the entire bridge compresses and moves as the train passes over, kind of like a floating bridge.
