hi

i currently have a Sapphire Radeon X1900 XT 256mb. it's exactly a year old. I would like to upgrade to a current-generation card, and I'm willing to spend around $250 for it. I'm not keeping up with the ATI vs nVidia race so I'm pretty clueless as to what to get. any suggestions would be appreciated

thanks

what do you mean? cocobar just told you what you needed to know. If you MUST upgrade now the 2900 pro is the gpu to get. it's 287 shipped on newegg right now. If you can wait a month or so, ati and nvidia both have generated a LOT of buzz with their upcoming midrange card releases. They both are releasing cards that should be >= 2900pro and require much less power (thus generating much less heat).

if the cheaper RV670 is around 150 and still performs decently, I might have to seriously consider it.
