Pitching wins in the playoffs, not hitting. Timely hitting, speed, and clutch hitting wins. But it all starts with pitching.

Well, it's obvious you haven't been reading a single thing I've typed in response.

The specific reason why A-Rod is receiving more blame than any other player is because he is the highest profile player on the Yankees, who, by the way, has never done anything to help the Yankees win any post season game. If & when A-Rod is traded, you will then have more fans talking about trading away Giambi. And who knows, he may actually be off the team before A-Rod. But they may both be back next year, I'm not the GM of the Yankees.

The Yanks office would have to be stupid to move ARod.
I say keep him and Torre around and shop for some pitching, both starting and bullpen.

While ARod didn't produce in the post-season, he wasn't the only one. Other than Posada and Jeter, none of the other Yanks hit the ball either, but ARod always has the burden of carrying the team and taking all the blame when they dont' win.

You don't get paid $20+ mil to fall flat in the playoffs.

With the other 8 hitters on the Yankees, you can pay any schmoe league minimum to play 3rd and the Yankees still make the playoffs. A-Rod was brought in to New York for one reason, to put the team over the top and win the World Series. He failed. Not once, not twice, but 3 times! With the intense negativity he will receive in the off season & next year from the media and the fans, he's likely only to get worse, and I think the Yankees do have to seriously consider moving him out.

So Giambi gets a free pass? Last time I checked, he's getting $20M and didn't produce this postseason either.
Why isn't he getting any of the blame?

Giambi is damaged goods. No one wants him unless he's really cheap to get. Arod, the former MVP, and an athletic player with good fielding and hitting skills would be worth more in the trade market. They could possibly land a good pitcher and middle reliever from dealing him. A Giambi trade would just be a salary dump.

Giambi had a good season, but was injured for the end of it (wrist ligament)

I don't think signings will be the big deal (it will be starting pitching, absolutely no hitting, I can guarantee that) but rather who gets let go, traded or simply not renewed. My money is on Mussina being resigned at a lower amount, A-Rod won't be traded, Torre won't be fired, but Jaret Wright and Sheffield will be let go.

Being a huge A's fan, I hate to say it, but they should be going for Zito, and possibly trading for some of the A's other pitchers. Old George was an idiot 2 seasons ago when he passed on both Mark Mulder and Tim Hudson and signed Randy Johnson. Neither of the two were older than 2 years, and both were signed on at a combined cost that was lower than the big unit.

If they don't go for Oakland, they dang well better go for some other pitching. With Pavano, Johnson, and Mussina, you've just got age. They're good guys and they were great pitchers in their prime, but let's face it. Their prime waved bye bye years ago.

There is no question he is a great offensive player, who struggled a bit defensively this season (psychological reasons).
Any team would love to have him play SS/3rd.
Heck, as a Mets fan, I would love to have him at 2nd... shorter throws to 1st
I think he'd fit in just fine, just like Beltran did after they acquired Delgado.
Now if only the Mets could trade for him without losing their core players....

So far you're wrong about Torre. He's gone. I predict AROD will go within a month.

To whom? Only a few teams have the money to be able to sign him and most will not want him. The only way the Yanks would be able to move him is to eat a huge portion of that contract. If they're doing that they might as well keep him. Remember he's just one year away from being the MVP. They have to write this season off a fluke. The only thing they need to do is get one more decent starter and a good long/middle reliever.

IDK, that's the 4yr/$64 million dollar question now isn't it? :)

Well, if you're making the prediction that he's gone you should have thought it through enough to have an idea on where he might go. Options are limited at that price range and even more limited given how he played this year. What, you think Cashman will Dangle A-ROD out there for trades and everybody is going to wait in line to toss that kind of money at him? The Mets won't touch him and neither will the Red Sox. Who's left?

If you want to know my opinion, I'll say what I said in the last thread. I think he's done, frankly. After being with the Yankees, everywhere else is second fiddle. His contract is too fat for a season to latch onto and I think the yankees will surely dump him. He may go by the wayside because of the size of his contract and diminishing skill.

Man, I hope the Padres go after A-Rod. They have starting pitching to spare and Klesko/Park's contracts expire which free up like $20 million.
