Walz is fine, although the reaction I'm seeing online from people in MN is pretty mixed. I think passing on Shapiro was a missed opportunity IMO.

Somebody (jokingly) tweeted that his book contained a passage mentioning that he'd once had ...intimate relations... with a couch, and it went viral, as things do on the internet.

It wouldn't be that funny, except the guy just really seems like the type that would be into that.
But also, the AP posted a fact check on the post and then withdrew it, almost implying that even though the book doesn't say it, they cannot actually confirm that he didn't have sex with a couch. It really helped to boost the visibility of this silly joke.

Edit: should have read further - someone already covered this.

Shapiro came with his own baggage in regards to the Israel protests.

While I think he's fine, the main issue with Walz is his "far left" record (oh noes, kids getting fed!). His vibe and personality mesh really well with the Harris campaign.

This might be the first time I've ever seen anyone cite Manchin as a positive source ...
I agree with your sentiment, but for me at least, it helps put a nail in the "Walz is far left" argument. Manchin isn't going to endorse a socialist, and people from both sides of the aisle know it.

oh god damn, he dropped Bob Seger already.

Reeling in the mid GenXer-late dad and solid Boomer fence-sitter demos in like, hours.

This is assassin level, fo sho.

(shit he even tossed in the speaker wire comment...fuck man, even cheeze approves of this guy..also, is this guy like, stalking ATOT? What kind of VP talks about...speaker wire quality?)
Yeah he just sort of stepped in and won a bunch of listless young GenX and older Millennial white males that needed a sassy Midwest Dad in their life.

100%
Let's not break out the champagne just yet.
I don't think anybody really is, but we just be excited to have two great candidates now after so many months of dread with Biden, so this is just joy for that. Mostly everybody knows we have to get back to work with the Harris/Walz ticket to win this, and people are mobilizing actually - raising money, volunteering, organizing voter reach outs and voter registration, etc...

It's good to be joyful and inspired and passionate about your candidates, especially in an existential election.

Would have taken my chances with Shapiro over Walz's child food aid scandal.

"Walz fed kids" is an easy headline but not accurate at all. Poor choice IMO.

I hear ya. I'm more optimistic than I was a couple of weeks ago too. There seems to be much more energy than there was when Biden was the candidate. Hope this momentum carries through to the election and also hope there's no funny business from the GOP to try and steal the election like they tried to last time.

Of course there will be attempts to steal the election. They haven't even bothered to try to hide their intentions. Of course, they bleat about "protecting the election" after losing 99% of the court cases where they tried to claim 2020 was stolen. Best of my knowledge, the only one ongoing is the one where they tried to overturn it. They both lied about the Democrats stealing AND tried it themselves, and they continue to stand by the lie.

The only thing that will change this time is that they'll try to be more careful and learn from their mistakes in order to succeed at the theft.

Considering the EC bullshit and the cheating and voter intimidation and voter suppression in "certain areas" that will happen, Harris has to win by a lot to barely win by a little IMO.

Ok pants shitter, please tell me the scandal here and how anyone cares about this? It's a wall of text that my hot takeaway was "They noticed there was fraud and are working with investigators. Kids got fed. Investigation is underway. "

The end.

He believes speaker wire makes a difference?
I was hoping for a less delusional VP.

Hopefully he was joking.
The best speaker wire uses aligned copper and needs to be replaced every year when the electrons start to plug it up.

An audiophile friend of mine who somehow was a fucking engineer.

Also if you spent less than $1000 on your interconnects you might as well be listening to a boom box.

Seems like Trump and Republicans may have a hard time with that "far left" attack on Walz when Trump had appointed him to a governors council

I heard he personally placed tampons in the boys bathrooms. Devil incarnate, that one. Satan gonna burn!

I'll take a nice 12 gauge wire over a shitty HTIAB 18 gauge tinsel string. It doesn't have to be name brand. Size matters.
Exactly this.

If you're pushing any kind of wattage, decent gauge copper wire is the way to go. It doesn't have to be Monster cables (are those a thing anymore?), just a decent size.

I heard someone boiled over a cup of noodles in the company microwave and Walz had the audacity to clean it up himself.
