From his RNC speech:

“America’s autoworkers aren’t the problem. Our union isn’t the problem. The working class isn’t the problem. Corporate greed and the billionaires’ hero, mascot, and lapdog, Donald Trump, are the problem. Don’t get played by this scab billionaire. Stand up and fight for more.”
This was all said at the RNC?!!!! I can't imagine it lol. I'd think they'd have ushered him off stage :D

I know, right? The Teamsters union President Sean O'Brien was the one who spoke at RNC. They haven't come out and endorsed yet and he said at the convention he wanted to be non-partisan.

You can't really put that into a very short slogan like "Make America Great Again" and "Illegals are stealing your way of life". Simplistic hate and fear is what those people want to hear, seems to me.

I've heard that very message said many times (that Democratic policies are better for them). They don't seem to want to listen. They vote for people that put in a tax "reform" that boldly gave a huge fucking raise to the ultra-rich, and then Paul Ryan tells a fantastic story about some single Mom who will save enough to pay her 10 dollar (at the time) Netflix bill. They piss on them and don't bother to call it rain, and get their votes back in return.

In short, I don't blame the Democrats for not reaching rural voters. They don't have a choice but to keep trying though.
It is so nice to hear somebody not blaming someone for something they clearly are not terribly successful at because each of can only do at best, the best we know how to do. Owing to the fact that both conservative and liberal thinking entail very poor understanding of human psychology as a result of a hidden dominant concealed inner prejudice in the form of fear of knowing what we feel, the best liberals can do is to stumble around trying to appeal to the logic of rural people who have little need in their lives for such skills and powerful motivations to stay that way.

Rural life has been hard for centuries and to deal with it rural cultures have acquired ethical values that are also hard and basic. In a world where each of us must struggle to earn a living with little time left over to care for others, and also because everyone has to eat, the natural naivete of rural people compared to that of educated elites have left them as easy prey.

Look at the price of a box of corn flakes and the price a farmer will get for the corn in it. And nobody fucks rural communities like corporate agrobusiness. And look at the shit we eat.

And regardless who said it, I want to plagiarize and modify this and have every candidate included in every speech:

America’s workers aren’t the problem. A worker’s union isn’t the problem. The working class isn’t the problem. Corporate greed and the billionaires’ hero, mascot, and lapdog, Donald Trump, are the problem. Don’t get played by this scab billionaire. Vote!

He's a douchebag, but I think he was hedging his bets because the Biden campaign was so bad he didn't want to endorse a loser and stupidly thought if he did that at the RNC, he could be in better shape if Trump won. What an idiot.

There is a loud contingent of leftists railing against Shapiro, that this would be an insult by Kamala and a big turnoff, etc, etc...

I don't know where you're getting the cabby shit.. I haven't ridden a cab since 1997 when I was in a hurry to get laid with a girl from a rave.

While I think Mayor Pete is awesome, you have more faith than me in the people of this land if you think they'd vote for a minority woman and a gay man on one ticket.

We shall see.

Democrats just cant help themselves. They couldn't unite to get on a lifeboat from a sinking ship.

They seem to have abandoned the USS Biden pretty successfully. Indus is a liberal bigot. I am a liberal who supports mental health education over gun bans and economic justice and wealth distribution over density as a way to curb the high cost of housing created in economically dynamic areas by economic need.

When he says 'it turns out that I'm right' he means he creates an opinion that is comforting to his bigotry.

Worse. If the lifeboat had some Republicans on it.. they'd be protecting the Republicans and letting them survive by protecting their rights over their own.

UAW had some complaints about Shapiro too but probably nothing that could not be overcome by the appropriate public position reversal.

Personally I think it's down to Beshear and Shapiro.

I got some left of leftists saying I'm a genocide advocate and Netanyahu apologist lol because I said they should read more about Shapiro before making their comments against Kamala, and while I don't agree with him on everything, they are going way over the top.

Some people would rather critique power than win power and use it.

Very true. I could have said that about you when you were so rabidly opposed to talking about Biden needing to step down as too much of an insane critique to power rather than winning it to use it.

And look at us now, we are so much closer to winning power than we have been the entire time he was our candidate.

I'm glad you see this now though. Many props for growing into this.

These people won't be satisfied until kamala or whoever comes out and denounces Israel and promises to withhold weapons from Israel. I don't necessarily disagree with that but it's FUCKING POLITICAL SUICIDE TO DO SO. It is the political reality we live in. Get kamala in office, she can put the pressure on after the election.

Reminds me of the Bernie Bros I knew that said they were not going to vote for Hillary. Cut off your nose to spite your face. Look at the non-Harris alternative and tell me that the Gazans will be better off. Enjoy the next few decades of even more whackjobs on the all-GOP supreme court if the oldest Democrats need to be replaced.

Well, to be fair, did anyone think the Democrats would rally this quickly around Harris, or anyone?

I sure as hell didn't.

I figure once Trump is gone the GOP is going to fracture more than usual. The crazies like MTG don't accept any non-crazies, it's been Trump to kind of hold it all together.

I don't give a shit who she picks, just hopefully be someone that helps get us to a win in November.
