Nevermind that you’re putting an actual stroke victim on a ticket that was upended for health/fitness concerns—but Fetterman gets nowhere near this ticket based on his recent infighting.
At least Fetterman is entertaining with his opinions now that he has regained his cognitive ability.

In America 2024…

2 Jews disqualifier
2 blacks disqualifier
2 women disqualifier
1 woman 1 gay guy disqualifier

2 white guys is acceptable. But America isn’t racist/sexist??
this has always been america. lol. even our first black president had to be half white.

Someone in the other thread mentioned that Manchin is privately mulling a challenge to Harris at the DNC. That would be political kryptonite, but I wouldn’t be surprised if him leaking this is his way of gunning for the VP pick.

If you’re gonna pick an infighter who pisses off progressives, I might actually rather have Manchin vs. Fetterman. Manchin, for all his faults, could eat JD Vance’s hillbilly ass for lunch when it comes to repping Appalachia. I know this is stupid, but I could almost see “independents” wary of a (half) black woman in the White House rationalizing Manchin as “the grown ass white guy in the House” balancing the ticket. I still think Manchin is a bad pick, but man, he could bring a lot of chamber of commerce type deep pockets onboard.
I don't think manchin would secure any delegate votes besides his own state. He's incredibly unpopular within the D party.

has to be Beshear or Shapiro, as much as i would hate to lose him as PA Gov.

Don't care who is picked, as long as it helps beat Trump.

On another political forum I frequent they are wringing hands that the pick won't be "progressive enough"...I'm like, really? One choice is a giant shit sandwich and you are whining that you'd prefer another side for your nice, if not perfect, entree? The only priority is keeping Sir Project 2025 out of the damn WH and riding off into an angry, bitter (and maybe incarcerated) sunset. Maybe if the next batch of GOPers is more normal we can go back to wanting nice things. (I remember John McCain and Romney, who I thought were pretty awful at the time? Oh boy does that feel a bit quaint now...)

Let me guess, are these the "genocide joe" clowns that are trying to move their anguish over to harris? I have a friend in real life like that.

There's an active thread in P&N about this already:

I'd like to see Mark Kelly. Shore up the AZ vote, plus who doesn't love Astronauts

It won't be Kelly due to senate concerns. The D governor has to appoint a D replacement, but it would trigger a full election at the next general ('26 due to timing) that would accelerate putting that seat up. In a purple state, that 2 years on Kelly's full term is important.

Let's worry about 2024, 2028 should not be on anybody's mind. We have a whole party to get more candidates from in 2028 if we even have Democracy.

The unfortunate (possible?) factor about 2024 is that some viable candidates who would have the best odds this year may prefer to sit out and wait until 2028 because of the way the current campaign may be going.
Just some hypothesis heard while listening to political channels on youtube in the background. so maybe

I meant to say run as the VP candidate to President Harris.

Also after one candidate taking forever to drop out because of overweening ego issues another contested choice for the candidate when the VP is already there would be even worse.

ahh my bad. I forgot what thread I was in. Yes that is something to consider.

Sadly the election in this giant country comes down to what, 500K voters in certain counties in a very few states? (Not sure if I read that here or elsewhere). Whoever she picks has to help win those states if that is possible. You can bet the GOP energy will be focused on cheating in those key areas.

I fricking hate the Electoral College.
