Who will Kamala pick as VP?

He's not quitting as President, then?

Would it not be advantageous for Harris to be able to run as the incumbent (and the first black woman President)?

I think that he's owed the option of serving his full term, he's a good guy, been an excellent politician and a fine President.

Plus this give Harris free rein to campaign as much as she wants.

Yeah, not expressing a strong view on it, but I thought it was considered beneficial to be the incumbent. (Plus if you take over from being VP I gather that doesn't count towards the term-limit thing?)

It would not count under the 25th because if she succeeded him it would be for a period of less than half a term.

Under the 25th the longest amount of time someone can be President is 10 years basically.

I've always thought that an electorate always dislikes having a leader foisted on them without an election.
It's just a few months, hopefully she can campaign well.

What ballots?
Democrats have not had a convention yet. The candidate for President never existed... yet.

Doesn't matter. They will try any/all theories they can.

It will be one of the two main challenges they bring up. The other being "Well he can't serve as president if he's not able to campaign for it" one. Also nonsense, but that's never stopped them before.

I guess that any time they spend throwing shit at Biden is less time they have to throw shit at Harris.

She basically gets to run as the incumbent, taking credit for all the accomplishments as part of the administration, while also being able to distance herself from any perceived mistakes.

And better for her to just stay as VP for now to focus on campaigning. No need for Biden to resign, Harris to become president, and then have to have a fight over getting a VP nomination through Congress that distracts from the real election.

If it's just being risk-averse then whatever but what I've seen is a lot of statements from certain people that kind of deny the situation we're in with Biden. And that includes how bad his capabilities are now. That also includes anybody who mentions the primary like it was anything but a formal coronation, which Biden made so .

Those types of statements specifically are what I am referring to.

They've been made, and maybe sometimes I made a mistake perhaps, my bad, but there were plenty of those kind of comments made as well which I responded too.

It's time to unite behind Kamala Harris our next president, really excited to see the ticket being announced, unless they fuck up the VP pick of course, which I don't think they will 😁
Well Squished, you got what you wanted. We will just have to wait and see how it works out. I only hope the Dems didn't shoot themselves in the foot by switching candidates at such a late date. The ideal transition would have been obviously for Biden to simply announce before the primaries that he was finishing his term as President but not running for a second term. Then we would have had at least a semblance of a meaningful primary perhaps, and more legitimacy attached to whoever was the nominee.

Edit: In this scenario, the Dems might even have been able to come up with a more electable candidate than Harris.

What a statesman, thank you from the bottom of my heart and the service to your country, Joe. Now, it's time for us to come together.
We must now run against a man that's 78 years old, has been convicted of 34 felonies by a jury of his peers, adjudicated as a rapist, and has said he will be a dictator on day one (just for one day, sure).
See how wonderful this will come together.
Here comes the sun...

Well, I just deposited my primary ballot in the drop box yesterday, so I have no idea how this is going to go down in WA. Wish I hadn't been so quick. There is a write in space. I hope as a sign of unity, that people write in Harris at the point.
