Think this is just a limited partial season thing. Probably wait till the summer and go through it during a weekend.

Loved the show. I was a huge fan of the 40s style of First Avenger, and they kept it rolling really well. Even apart from what a great job Atwell did, I love how Howard Stark and Jarvis are such big parts of the show.

As I stated above, this show is marginal at best.
The main reason is, everything is so predictable, and far-fetched.
The writing has been bad so far.

They should have went with Bluebird or Aurora or another Marvel comic character that has more than a 1 dimensional character trait, and has some kind of power, for an actual superhero type of show.

This is kinda like watching a series built around Batman's butler, Alfred.

Except for your last comment, these were some of the same criticisms leveled at AoS when it started (none of the main characters had powers, bland writing etc). Once it found it's groove, it really picked up.

I started watching Agents of Shield the other day because it popped up on Netflix.

2 episodes in...does this show always suck this bad or what? It was horrible--does it actually get better?

It gets better.. but it takes a while. Pretty towards the very end of the first season when it starts tying into The Winter Soldier. Season 2 is leaps and bounds ahead of season 1.

Agent Carter wasn't bad. I had a few laughs. I know the 40s wasn't kind to women in the workplace but they could have done it better ala Boardwalk Empire style.

Love the lead actress, going to give it another go on the weekend or something. I watched the second hour and didn't know what the hell was going on.

Most of the above is just flat out wrong. First, if you were paying attention, you may have picked up the several Easter eggs and plot seeds that were dropped in each episode. More, if you've been following AoS S2. Not sure where you believe it to be predictable . . .I'll wager money that your prediction will be way off.

Per Disney, this is MCU on TV. Think of it as an 8 hour Marvel movie that airs on TV. Producers say there'll be a season 2 as well.

1D character? You weren't watching the episodes then.

Lastly, not sure why people keep trying to bring this up: It. Is. Not. A. Superhero. Show. Not sure how much clearer that point can be made. Any 'powers' you see in the show are going to be from technology, such as the Crimson Dynamo. Vanko was in episode 2, for example.

it's a very well done show.
atwell(carter) and d'arcy(jarvis) are top notch as far as the acting goes. the rest of the supporting cast are also up to the task(didnt even recognize the girl from nikita/HIMYM)

production values and cinematography are nice, they could have gone darker or grittier like boardwalk empire but it is a family show for primetime and it certainly doesnt look too sterlized or pretty for a period piece. they certainly spent some money on sets and props.

plot is a standard spy thriller type that just happens to live in the MCU. other than the nitromene and vitarays, there isnt too much of an ask when it comes to believability. it is the Alias(2001) of comicbook tv. the touches of humor are nice, but the spy/double agent scenes could be a little more taut.

the main draw or hook will be for anyone who liked captain america:1st avenger. if you felt anything for cap at the end of the movie and all that he lost/sacrificed, then this is the other side of the coin from her perspective.

assuming the rest of the mini series is the same quality, it should be good. it is certainly better done than AOS.

Its not great, but watchable. This kinda reminds me of Bletchley Circle with the thing about women who had important jobs during the war and how they adjust when the war was over and the men came back. This perspective isn't shown all that much. I like it more than Agents of Shield, although the second season so far is good.

Finally watched it tonight. Campy, hokey, and fairly predictable. Mediocre acting and writing...but in spite of its shortcomings, I'll continue watching for now.

I also watch AoS...and have some of the same complaints about that series too.

Neither of these shows are "OMFG! It's the BEST show I've ever seen!", but they're based on comic books...a certain amount of campy and hokey is to be expected.

I thought it was pretty boring and quickly lost interest. But I'm not really a fan of superhero stuff and thought Agents of Shield was terrible.

I watched the first couple of episodes and couldn't watch more. Predictable and had lame characters (like the hot, edgy "hacker" chick who anyone could see from a mile away would be "invited" to join the team).

To be fair, I don't think they ever intended Skye's invitation to join the team to be a surprise. I'm pretty sure that was given away in the promos for the show.

I do agree that AoS got off to a really poor start though, and the only reason I stuck with it was because I enjoy Marvel's movies. It does get better as the show progresses, and there are definitely some developments that most people didn't see coming in the second half of season 1. Season 2 has been really good too. It's worth watching at least through season 1 for people that are into superhero/Marvel stuff, but if you're not (as you said) then it probably won't ever get much better to you.

Will watch as soon as as they also bring back Maragery Tyrell... err Private Lorraine for a some hot girl on girl with Agent Carter.

Natalie Dormer + Haley Atwell FTW.

I believe that should be the plot for the next episode. I'd definitely watch. :awe:

Isn't Natalie Dormer's character the one in the radio play they do through out the first two episodes?

No idea.. Natalie Dormer was in the Captain America movie, first one. Pretty minor role.

I watched it last night on hulu. For a 1950's era show it was pretty good. She looked a lot different with a revealing neckline and blond hair???

I am saying it would have been *better* if it WAS a superhero type show, I already knew it wasn't.

I don't know why they didn't go with the series happening shortly after the end of captain america and she was out hunting for the rest of the hydra bases instead of years after the war was done.

I think this happens right after Capt America. Hunting Hydra comes later, probably by the end of this season. I think I read some of the Howling Commandos are supposed to show up on the show. I think what we see now is before what we saw in the Agents of Shield flashbacks.

They're rebroadcasting now. Watched it from the start, makes a lot more sense now. Liking it, mainly because of the lead actress. Will make an effort to watch or DVR it.

Umm... me or the waitress look like Alison Brie.

I liked it. It reminded me a lot of the 70's Wonder Woman show. It's a lot different from AoS, but that's OK with me.

...How did YOU recognize him;)?

The ad yesterday said that it's a 7 episode event, so we're 2 down, 5 to go?

Wonder if they'll "cheat" and bring her to present day and just add her to Agents of Shield. Seriously, really good lead. Like her more than the entire Shield cast combined.
