I know that Romney wasn't really opposed to illegal immigration.

I know that Gingrich called for near amnesty for immigrants.

I don't know what Santorum's views were on immigration, although I imagine his actual record is closer to the pro-amnesty side since he always voted along with what Bush's liberal ass wanted.

I know that Dr. Paul is moderate on immigration.

Anyway, who do you think was the most pro-amnesty and who do you think was the least pro-amnesty?

OP needs to decide if he's talking about immigration or illegal immigration. Cuz one is an established system which built this country and the other is a serious crime which none of our presidents have dealt with.

Well, George Bush might have been the most pro illegal immigrant President we ever had.
He virtually stopped prosecutions of companies hiring illegal aliens.

QFT.

There is a HUGE difference between LEGAL immigration and ILLEGAL immigration. Also, there is no such thing as UNDOCUMENTED immigrants. You are either LEGAL or ILLEGAL. Period.

Legal immigrants havent committed crimes. Nobody needs to pardon them for anything.

And no recent president has been anti-amnesty or pro-kicking them the fuck out. Too many rich white people have interests in slave or indentured labor. The government doesnt WANT them out.

All republicans who are pro-business are pro-illegal immigration, which is why--no matter what they say in the campaign--none of them will ever do anything to seal the borders or deport people. and honestly, the only practical solution is to make them all citizens

Nope. Reagan gave them amnesty, Bush Sr. did nothing. Bush Jr did nothing even as he tried convincing us America was under attack and terrorists were everywhere.

Both parties want illegal immigration, its kind of a joke by now to think otherwise. To be nominated for either party you need to atleast have a meh attitude towards it, if you are anti-illegal and want to round them up you wont get the nomination to run as prez.

The most anti-illegal president was probably Eisenhower [1950's], he actually DID authorize the police and ICE to round up illegal aliens by force and boot them out of the country. His policies effected close to 1 and a half million illegals at that time which was pretty much all of them - and almost all were mexican, some things never change right. Once you go past his administration and enter into the civil right's era of the 1960's, all of the President's have succumbed to that movement...That was a good movement, but after the civil right's era you are called a racist if you are anti-illegal alien. THAT part of the era/civil rights movement is complete bullshit but its effect lingers on to this day obviously.

Its not civil rights/anti-racism which the main driving force towards the hands off attitude on the issue of illegal immigration. Its because of prevailing free market capitalist ideas and that corps/businesses profit from hiring cheaper illegal workers which also weaken the power of local labor unions.

Eisenhower is slandered as a crypto communist by extreme rightists today.
