Who wants to loan me $500k

When people always posted "I'd rather just have a projector over a big ass plasma like this" when the 103" came out, I didn't understand and didn't agree. Now that I'm running a projector, I can't agree enough. $500K for a 150" screen? Give me $20K (or more, or less) and I'll blow that out of the water.

/agree. I'll spend the rest of the 450k buying a house or putting an add on room for mine to have a perfect HT 😀

Yeah, but equivalent resolution projectors are $150k. It's still a large dollar disparity but not so much on a percentage basis versus the previous comparison of low-resolution ("Full HD") models.

I wonder how much heat that thing puts out. Maybe it is the cause of global warming? 🙂

Good point. Even moreso though, you have power issues (im sure powering that thing for any reasonable amt of time would get expensive) not to mention transporting it (even if only one time...getting it in your house).

I would rather get a christie display 4K projector + the necessary power/cooling and shoot theatre size.

I've seen the 104" non 3-D panny plasma on display in NYC. I think its around 100k and that is a beast in and of itself. The 104" would already need special hoists and possible even knocking down of wall to get it into a room (unless you had french doors or something similar). The 153" is just plain sick. Probably need a crane to get that into your home.

I think it is AWESOME, however I'd take a 4K projector over it just because of the sheer heat that thing must give off! That room will definitely need it's own climate control.

On the other hand, what/how much content are you going to get in 4K?

Without access to such content drives (either in the bidness or having certain contacts), one could at least enjoy a larger picture from scaled-up HD content without suffering as much of a "blow-up" effect as with a large HD display.

with the money saved, I am sure you can rent content from the same people theatres rent from.

The difference is still the price of a decent vacation property... or a decent 4-seat airplane. Edit - or his-and-hers Ferraris.

The heat would have to be ridiculous.

And, frankly... I thought it would be bigger.

holy jesus...the biggest one ive seen in person is 62"...and i thought it was massive!

yea its kinda insane, ive seen the 85 and even that is kinda silly, and yes anyone who wanted to go that big would just get a projector and save a ton of money

its still an impressive piece of electronics and it bet it would look amazing in person
