Who wants to explain the wave equation

Maybe this is not at all the same thing, but I'd love to hear someone explain wave-pipelining to me...(I think the USIII uses it?). From what little I understand, it is some form of removing the clock cycle from that part of the chip....? (Or am I entirely off base). Maybe this deserves its own thread if it has nothing to do with wave equations...(I have 0 clue).

The wave equation is a 2nd order partial differential equation relating the 2nd deritive wrt each of the spatial coordinates to the 2nd deritive wrt to time. Solutions are sinusoidal.

What is your math background and what do you expect in the way of a explainiton?

That page is exactly what i needed for my disturbance based rendering model for a 3d pool simulation :) under those constraints, if the java -> c++ conversion yields no performance increase, my 100x100 3d grid ought to perform about 10x worse, but would still make for some interesting experimentation :) thanks once again RossGr :D
