Now that a judge ruled today that Vonage can no longer sign up new customers, its not looking good... So i'm keeping my options open...

What other providers are out there? Who do you recommend?

I'd say if you want to keep your phone #, might be a good idea to switch sooner rather than later. If the die, I'd assume your rights to that # die with it.

To answer your question, voicepulse was very good when I had them, and I hear good things about sunrocket as well.

I'll probably just wait until I don't get a dial tone anymore. The more people that leave now the bigger their problems will be.

Plus, I don't really care about the number, and don't make too many phone calls anyway.

From what I've seen it may not really be a Verizon vs Vonage issue... it's a Verizon vs VOIP issue. Who's to say <insert other cheap VOIP provider here> isn't next?

does anybody know if comcast digital phone service is voip based? since i already use them for cable and internet, i'll probably switch to them for phone, tho their service seems kind of pricey - $40/month plus taxes, fees, and equipment rental, vs. the $25 a pay vonage now. stupid verizon. hopefully they'll work something out.
