CNBC - right now

The U.S. is playing China. China is getting beaten like a red headed step child. During a 5 minute power play they had zero shots while the U.S. had 2. It was 8-1 after 2 periods.

btw - It's the women...

and your point is?

The results would be reversed if there's a mahjong tournament between US and China...

I remember back in the day how the Soviets were unstoppable. Its wierd how the collapse of a government can affect the hockey team so much.

There is practically no competition in womens hockey.. China is actually considered 4th best in womens hockey... it's basically USA, Canada, and Finland being number 1, 2, and 3 respectively.

China may not be a hockey power, but if every chinese person jumped up and down at the same time, we could probably knock the earth out of orbit or cause massive earthquakes.

or something like that ;)

Hmm, womens hockey is still in it's infancy. Before the last Olympics the Canadian team was undefeated for the longest time, then I believe the US team finally beat them shortly before those Olympics and has been practically undefeated since then. IMO, womens hockey probably shouldn't have been allowed in the Olympics until it was a little more competitive, but perhaps that will change in time.

That's like saying that the US pro men's basketball Dream Teams shouldn't compete until the rest of the world is more competitive...
But 72 shots on goal? Man, the Chinese goalie probably fanned at so many pucks that I'm afraid that the US women might catch colds! :D

At least on the ice they can talk bad about the US players without them knowing because the US players don't speak Korean.

He knows. Read this.

P.S. With the fall of the USSR government suddenly the flow of money to professional sportsmen (and women) was put on hold, therefor forcing them to get a job next to it. New sportsmen have to finance their own trainings and sh!t. Means they can't train 24/7 nor purchase as expensive training equipment, and therefor won't be as succesful unless they're true naturals.

i think it's great that their are other teams that want to play against canada and the US in women's hockey. unfortunately, they will never win. or even come close. In canada's first 2 games against kazikstan (sp?) and Russia the shots on goal were almost 150 to 15, and canada outscored their opponents 14-0 :) just wait till the gold medal round... our canadian women have something to prove after being defeated for the gold in nagano by the yankee women! :p bring it on.

Ha ha...Yeah, a few months ago, me and a friend joked that instead of sending our military machine over, we should hire the Chinese (@ a few bucks a head) to run across Afghanistan toward the Taliban strongholds...then take a dump...

You think it's nothing, but imagine a billion dumps on your doorstep

women's hockey is as exciting as watching paint dry. until they allow checking i won't ever watch another women's game. do they allow checking the Olympic competition? they don't on any other level so i can't imagine they would in Olympic play.
