Other than autotrader there are no popular used car search engines on the net with a significant inventory that work properly. Let's say you go to ebay motors for instance. Not until you click on a vehicle can you see if it's even in your freaking state. The edmunds car search, like the ebay, has no zip code filter either. Then there are certain sites that are so stupid that in stead of searching for "All cars between $10k-15k" or "Search all nissans", they go right down to details like you HAVE to search for a Nissan maxima SE and they differentiate between that an a GXE. MAYBE if they had thousands of listings this would be worth while but search engines like this make you research dozens of times to weed through the listings that are appropriate for you.
It seems that people don't even test ideas for these fuggin search engines before they go ahead and make them.
