Who taught you how to ride a bike?

I am in the midst of teaching my son about bike riding, safety, and so forth and it got me to thinking about who taught me how to ride. It was probably my brother or sister, but I seriously cannot recall.

When the training wheels came off, my father taught me. Well, he basically pushed me once or twice, said, "Keep peddling and look where you're going", and went back in the house. After that I was on my own.

That painted a funny picture in my head:laugh:

Nobody. I had training wheels and my sister noticed that when I rode my training wheels never even touched the ground. We got the tool that came with them and she took them off.

my dad.. took about 10 minutes worth of his time following me around the street pretending to hold onto the back before i noticed i was on my own..

Thats my plan with my son:thumbsup:

My father when I was 5 or 6 years old.

It was terrible the first day (no training wheels back then--the wheel had just been invented).

Second day and ever after was fine.

No one 😱

I didn't learn until I was around 10 because my father instilled such great fear that I'd hurt/kill myself. Oh well, I ended up teaching myself and did ok.

Dad taught me. He would come out in roller blades and follow me around... it didn't take me too long to learn though. Never had training wheels-- they just hold you back.

My brother is 13 and refuses to learn how to ride a bike. Kinda feel bad for him considering there's a bunch of kids in the neighborhood that ride their bikes all the time. But it was one of those he fell one time and is scared to death to learn kind of things. (Oddly enough, he does the same thing with trying new foods. He won't do it and he is constantly (of his own volition) left out of family trips to restaurants. Weird kid, I know.)
