Uwe Boll? Joel Schumacher? Oliver Stone? The Coen/Wachowski Brothers?:p

I'd want Luc Besson as the best alternative to Jackson. Think Fifth Element on Middle Earth.

How about Spike Lee showing us how Bilbo and the other hobbits are always oppressed and trying to fight The Man?:p

David Lynch would do an awesome job. Can you picture Bilbo snorting laughing gas and calling for his mommy?

Starts singing...

:music:"He wore bluuuuuuuuuuuuuue mythril! Doom Doom Doom...:music:

According to Tolkien fanboys, nobody will be good enough. It should be a consortium of nerds.

Why are you asking this? Is there a film version of "The Hobbit" in the works, and PJ says he won't do it?

Whoever the director is, it will have to be someone who knows the art of film-making, good for actions scenes as well as frame composition, someone with a wicked sense of humour and crazy enough to have a vision and be stubborn about it.

The interesting part of this is that I can do a spot-on Gollum/Smeagol voice, as well as Jar Jar Binks.
(I also can do Elmo. My Gangsta Elmo is popular. "Elmo gonna bust a cap in yo ass! Ahahaha!")

Meesa be lovin' da precious! Me wants it to ourselveses!
But weesa should be given it back to da Hobbitses. Dissa massa me friend! Heesa petty okey day.
Oh piss off, murderer. Yousa must be cahwayze!

Ron Howard. He directed Willow, after all. Lucas would have potential as well, he was the producer for Willow. Other than Willow there's not much precedent for a good movie in this genre. James Cameron would make an interesting version. Not the evil mirror universe James Cameron that did Titanic, the one from this world that did Terminator and Aliens.

You should be banned in effigy for mentioning Uwe Boll in this context.

Uwe Boll of course!

He's one of the great creative minds of cinema of the past few generations.

Plus, he's German. How can you go wrong with that?

He also stands up and fights ( literally ) for the quality of the movies he makes.

You can't go wrong with a german.

Somehow if we get Uwe Boll, we need David Hasselhoff, Gary Coleman, and maybe Paris Hilton to sign on.
