Assuming I go with Geico for car insurance (best rate by about 20% over everything else I've seen), what would be an appropriate place to get my renter's insurance through? Geico doesn't have renters', although their affiliate is decently priced (but not great).

I'm only needing about $30,000 coverage.

I have mine through Travelers.

It's less than $200 for the entire year. Something around $160ish i think maybe slightly less.
Covered for 35 or 40k

You might want to recheck going with allstate. If you have other companies run a quote on renters at the same time, the multi-policy discount can drop your auto rate considerably.

Allstate and State farm have much more relaxed agents best bet is through one of those too. Sorta don't ask don't tell. They won't go snooping as much as other companies for underwriting problems so you should be fine.

Mercury = BLACK AND WHITE

AAA, STATEFARM, FARMERS, ALLSTATE = Much more allowable gray area and easier to qualify for but slightly more premium.

Mercury, although it would probably be the cheapest won't write you currently due to some rules, even though the discount, for having a renters and auto with mercury, from your auto policy if you had a auto policy with mercury, would most likely pay the premium for your renters policy. IE free renters.

So.. yea try Allstate or State farm, Farmers, AAA. If you can try and get your auto and renters with the same company because the discounts can be good.

Good Luck
