As post says...And please give vendors with high ratings...What is the general premium and is it worth just getting an mp????

anybody have any ideas...seems a little more technical then I would like to get, the going method that is...

Yeah it's a shame. There used to be a really good site that sold overclocked CPU's guaranteed to run at the stated speed. 🙁 The guy was highly respected around here. I can't remember the site or the guys name though...Dave I think. With the Palo being harder to unlock, I can see a market for overclocking resellers.

Compuwiz is still a respected member of the AT community.

Steve was his name, Compuwiz is his nick on AT. He closed shop due to drop in cpu prices.

Unlocking the XP isn't really any harder than ceramic chips IMO. It just requires an extra step. For the pencil pusher overclockers, I would think it's harder since the pencil trick doesn't work.

Cheers!

IMHO, if you have the coordination/knowledge to OC and put together a computer, you will be able to unlock a CPU with no problems. However, if you not experience enough to be doing that, then you don't need an unlocked CPU. Thats my 3 cents.
