Who sells blue LEDs for PC case front bezels?

Does anyone know where I can find a place to buy blue LED lights to replace the green ones that come standard in PC cases (re: power light)? It needs to have the standard motherboard plug as well. Any tips? 😕

I bought a few of those LEDs for my computers from FrozenCPU.com a while back there. They are a little pricey, There are vendors who have them tailed like you want, a little hard to find but I remember finding the same ones a little cheaper somewhere else also.

I highly recommend the 5mm as opposed to the standard 3mm - they look much better and are brighter. You might have to take the dremel and enlarge the hole in front of the case just a hair to make them fit right. They also sell the little plastic housing to make it fit, but you don't need that if you have a little patience and some glue.

I've used these with a variety of motherboards and have only run into one problem so far. The front case LED pins on my new EPOX 8K5A2+ don't seem to produce enough juice (only for 3mm) to fully power the 5mm light. In which case you could always just connect it through a spare molex connector directly from your power supply.

Go to your local RadioShack and they will have 'blue led lights'. Then just cut off the old led and solder on the new one. Make sure to use some shrink tubbing when you do it. I replaced the hdd led in my case with a blue one and it look's nice. Still using the stock green one for the power led.

[Edit] Here is a pic of the blue led in my case. Which you can see it is bright too. 😉

I've got the Epox 8K5A3+ mobo and the kingwin KT-436 case. My case LED's (power, HD) do not work - I am pretty certain I have them connected to the pins correctly on the board, and everything else works (power, reset, USB, etc.), but the LEDs just do not light. I had pretty much accepted my situation until I read your post - I wonder if my case has 5mm lights. If so, how exactly do you wire the LEDs into the molex connectors? I assume that this will light the HD LED, but it won't flash to indicate activity. I would appreciate any tips or tricks about this that you might have.

Thanks!

If you got it plugged in wrong it won't work they have polarity.

I've tried connecting them different ways, but no luck. I'm pretty sure I have them connected correctly right now. There's really not many ways to do it, and I managed to hook everything else up correctly.

Yeah, my 8K5A2+ had me running in circles pulling my hair out trying to figure out why it wouldn't power the case LED all the way! I was going nuts, I went over it a thousand times and just like you accepted my situation. Just today, I was over reading the feedback section at Newegg on the 8K5A2+ and wouldn't ya know it there was another guy who had the same problem! It seems to me now that these new 8K5A2/8K5A3 series motherboards might have a little issue with those LED pins.

You might want to try PM 'Insane3D' - I've gotten a lot of good advice from him, he knows his EPOX boards very well. I would try to get a hold of some old LEDs and see if any work with the pins on your board. I would think that most cases come with the standard 3mm pins and not the bigger 5mm - but who knows, you might have them? I have my case LED hooked up to the 'turbo' pin on the board and everything seems to be working right. My board doesn't have trouble with the HD LED, but your right if you hook it up to a spare molex, it won't indicate usage. Adapter for the molex connector aren't hard to find, you could even make one yourself w/little time. I don't even know if it would be a good idea though, perhaps there is too much juice in those molex connectors for a little LED? I wonder if you could plug it into the onboard FAN pin? Sounds like that could be trouble too? Oh well, good luck anyhow, post back on how you make out - there are probably many other EPOX owners going crazy right now trying to figure this out, doesn't seem to be happening to everyone though.

I used the RadioShack blue LED and replaced my Power On light. After all, if you are going to have a blue LED, why not have it on all the time. I left the hard drive LED stay green. I also changed out the orange LEDs for my Digital Doc 5 with a pair of blue LEDs (not from RadioShack) so my front panel is a blue extravaganza. Especially neat when sleep walking at 3am with the lights out.

Thanks for all the replies, guys- got more than I was expecting. I will check out all of the links you posted and hit up the RadShack to see what they've got. Bump for more resources if you have 'em.
