Who sells 9800 Pro to Canada?

I live in Canada and wanted to order a MSI 9800 Pro from Newegg. They told me they do not sell to canadians. I also have a US shipping address but that did not work either as my credit card is issued by a canadian bank.

Do you know of any reputable US shop that I could buy from?

Alternatively, can you suggest a competitive shop in New York (downtown)?

Do you know anyone in the US? If you did, you could order it, send it to your friends house and then they could send it to you.

..15% tax don't make things very pleasant for us
Which you would be charged anyway when you import from the US.

Yeah that is if you declare your purchase. But I am saying in general you pay more tax in Canada on products, which already cost more in the beginning. For instance, in Michigan the sales tax is only 6% and if you order online in most states you don't have to pay tax. In Canada even if you order online, you still have to pay taxes. Of course say if you are sometimes on vacation, you are allowed to purchase items and not pay tax on them depending no how long you stay in US - Customs & Allowances. In that case, if one is looking to upgrade their hardware, it is better to buy in US as well. Still, since the price is lower in US 99% of the time, the higher the cost of the product, the more you end up saving even if you still need to pay 15% import tax. I also imagine it is difficult to find the MSI card in Canada at a reasonable price.

BB stands for Built By

BBA stands for Built by ATI. Essentially most ATI cards are of reference design so this really doesnt matter what ATI brand card you get. MSI is a late generation 9800Pro that isn't a reference cooler design and it uses 9800xt core. But unlike Nvidia products which often you cheap 2D quality components, etc., when buying an ATI card, you should simply purchase one based on low price, the bundle it offers to your liking, and if there is a non-reference design, then look into that.

ATI is a Canadian company. how ironic.

Yeah but Canadian computer hardware prices and 15% tax don't make things very pleasant for us 🙁

I honestly don't notice much difference in prices if you convert currencies. The 15% tax sucks though; it's just part of life here. You generally pay GST when you import something anyways.

If you're in Toronto, the small shops on Spadina Ave. are unbeatable. I shop at Filtech Computer. They have the best prices and service I have seen in my 8 years of buying hardware locally.

MSI Radeon 9800 Pro

NCIX is a good Canadian online company, but they never have deals anything like what you can find in the states.

It's a joke really, when ATI products are usually 15-30%+ cheaper in the US. X800 Pro's still go for $600 CDN; with tax it's $690 CDN. That converts to $530 US (conversion rate: 1.30)! What a f***ing joke!

It's not that bad, the MSI 9800pro @ newegg is $194usd which is $252 canadian.. its $288 at ncix. If you order from the stats shipping is usually 10-15 or more, and most of the times you got to pay charges for customs

But in either scenario you gave there, it's cheaper to order from the US. Even if you pay an additional $15 US (so, rounding way up, $25 CDN) on top of the $252, it's still cheaper than $288 plus tax at NCIX.

And this is a good case - stuff like the X800 Pro, which cannot be found under MSRP in Canada, except if you know an ATI employee, whilst it has popped up in hot deals several times for $330 US, remains out-of-reach for all but the richest of Cannucks.

If someone in Ontario orders from ncix (or any other out-of-province retailer) they pay only GST (7%) plus shipping.

If they order from a U.S. retailer, they will be dinged for both GST and Pst (8%). Plus shipping rates in the U.S. are usually much higher.

Customs fees range from negligible to zero, but brokerage fees on ground shipments can be 20% or so. No brokerage on air, however! Go figure!

$249.00 at FS for the weekend with rebates (BBA). Is odd the x800pro pricing in Canada. Very high and the Vivo is the same price as the non vivo. And Nvidia pricing is very high as well right now.

Thanks a lot RONN. I just picked it up at FS for cdn $249 ($299 - $50 rebate). At this price it is even cheaper than newegg.

Fry's Ouptoost ships to Canada, and if you get going pronto, they have some hot sales on!
http://shop1.outpost.com/template/index/
They currently have a hot sale on some DDRM Ram and also on 2 model of the Radeon 9800.

I personally buy most from newegg.com , but also shop at fry's. Of course I am close to most stores in the USA.

I hope this helps..

i dont know places I seen sell VIVO $10~30 higher

the dumbest thing going on in canadian seller right now is 9800xt is more expensive than x800 pro
Ncix $644.77 for 9800xt , $607.94 for x800 pro
some other sites list 9800xt and x800 pro only $10~20 difference.
I guess no one's buying 9800xt anyway so why bother updating the price?
