I heard this quote today, "It will be a great day when our schools get all the money they need and the Air Force has to hold a bake sale to buy a bomber."

EDIT: And yes, I've googled.

I know this will start a political debate, but thats gonna happen anyway so........

The Air Force will not hold a bake sale for bombers.
They will get out and go back to their regular jobs until we decide we need them and their bombers again. Then we will have to budget money to the military.

I'm not saying its good or bad, just saying whats realistic.

That saying goes back to the Vietnam era. Was a popular choice for posters* at the time.

* posters (in this context) = approximately 3'x4' colorful sheets of paper that people hung in their bedrooms/dorm rooms.

Well, realistic or not, I think it's just a quote saying what a great day it will be when we don't have wars. I don't think it's literal.
But I'm not sure we will see that day...

I disagree.
If they meant that then they would not have said anything about the Air Force budget or school budget.

Mabye not gone all together, but a day when war isn't a problem. You do agree that it is an "anti-war" quote, right?
