Problem with that data is that it gets old fast and of course is being told to you through a notebook vendor....

Of the dated items is IBM production... While part of that statement may still be somewhat accurate, over 65% of all ThinkPad production is made in Co-owned facilities by LG and IBM...

Meaning IBM co-owns the production facility with LG. Whether or not that accounts for ThinkPads quality or not is open to your own speculation.

I know that Korea has the Xnote or some other similar facsimile that is LG-IBM made. I personally own a T40 and it looked as if they were similar except the different color and styles.

They shouldn't look similar and if they do it's coincidental.

IBM does it's own industrial design meaning that they do not buy some other company's off the shelf notebook that anyone else is buying into. Ie; like Dell does or did do.
