who puts onion in egg salad?

Adds nice flavoring
 
Spring onion, mainly just the green parts though. I also like some celery in there.

i had never even considered the possibility of onions in egg salad, the idea is horrifying

I use:

eggs, mayo, and a bit of horseradish mustard

If nothing else it's better to have some crunch in there from the onions. If you do not add something like onions, all you have is seasoned egg mush on bread.

What sand man said. But you can over do the onion. I purchased a unit of egg salad from "Whole Paycheck" and it was WAY overloaded with red onion.

I also enjoy a bit of celery with my ES. A bit.

That's why celery is often put in. Either celery or finely diced onions are fine with me, comrade.
