who plays Fantasy Baseball? stat question...

i was just reading an article and the author was saying how WHIP and OBP are a must in any fantasy league.

this is my second year playing fantasy baseball and have always used AVG. what are your opinions on using OBP instead of AVG? are there any disadvantages to using OBP over AVG?

AVG is just so mainstream that anyone can relate to a .300 average, but guys like Bonds and Giambi have such high OBP which truly show their value. i have Brian Giles on my team this year and had Bonds last year and nothing pisses me off more than seeing them go 0/1 with 3 walks.

i'm seriously considering using OBP instead of AVG (i'm the commish for all my fantasy leagues) but i wanted to get some opinions from guys that have played fantasy longer than me or just know baseball more in general. thanks in advance!

Most of the fantasy leagues I've played in use more categories... OBP and SLUGGING along with AVG. WHIP is also added.

i use the regular 5x5 categories (batting: runs, hr, rbi's, sb, avg; pitching: wins, saves, k's, era, whip)

i don't want both because i want to keep it at 5 categories each for batting and pitching otherwise hitters would be more valuable. this is a head to head league.
