Just curious b/c i got in an argument last night.

I would assume NYS taxpayers.....the other party didnt think so but couldnt give me a valid source of funds.

And if you have any link that shows taxpayers money sent her that would kick ass.

I would hope it was the taxpayers money as she's going there as a representitive of them.

At a minimum the same business a US senator has in ANY ally or potential ally of the US. One of the primary duties of the US government, which she is part of, is international relations.

She isn't a NY senator, btw, she's a US senator that represents NY.

Do you have any idea how much goods and services go between Israel and NY? Granted, it's irrelevant. She's going for the photo-op and shore up her AIPAC credentials.

WTF do you think a US Senator does? When America sends other countries foriegn aid do you think that it's done without the Senate members on the commision in charge of over seeing Foriiegn Aid checking it out first?

I didn't "correct" you because of a technicality. I wanted to clarify that she represents the United States, not New York. She is part of the government of the United States, not the government of New York.

That isn't a technicality, it's extremely relevant to your question. The thrust of your statement seems to be that her "business" should be New York, and that isn't accurate.

Well let's be reasonable . . . guys like Ted Stevens, Robert Byrd, Trent Lott, and Ted Kennedy actually 'work' for their states. It's even worse in the House. They treat the US Treasury like one big piggybank . . . and do their best to bring home the bacon.

Many, and probably most at one time or another.

Stop spelling it "Isreal" - it's really really annoying.

i really wish i cared........israel means about as much to me as spell checking.

because i wanted to know why she felt the need to go.

and if she was visiting as a US rep. not a NYS rep.....why would NYS have to pay?

all i wanted to know was who paid for her to go, thats all.

I'd have to think, contrary to what was posted above, that she has a travel budget through the US Senate. It would be very surprising to me if the taxpayers of NY paid for this directly. It seems to me that if she's traveling in her capacity as a senator (as opposed to strictly recreational travel), she should be reimbursed. Certainly her travel must cost a tiny fraction of what the President's costs, since he is constantly traveling back and forth to the "Western White House." In all fairness to President Bush, the travel of any President or VP costs the taxpayers a gazillion dollars, since he travels on AF1 or AF2 with Secret Service agents, dozens of dedicated AF personnel, etc.

I don't think so. I think you hate Hillary Clinton and are looking for an excuse to stoke that hate. You want some fresh rational reason you can pin on her to maintain your flagging emotional state, some fresh gas for your anger. You need an adjustment to maintain your brain's chemical cocktail addiction to rage.

NY doesn't need to be represented in Israel by her. what a waste of my tax dollars.

Sounds like the most reasonable answer to this

With all due respect, your feigned outrage about this rings hollow. The irony is that you support President Bush, who has spent hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars and thousands of American lives in support of a foreign policy agenda premised on the notion that Israel is our most important ally and her interests are as important as our own in strategic terms, yet you claim to be bothered by the idea that a high-visibility US senator would spend, say $30K (this is admittedly a complete wild-ass guess on my part about the cost of her trip) to visit the same country at a time that it really does look as though WWIII is a real possibility as a result of its conflict with a neighbor. You do the math.

with all due respect back at you, all i see Hillary Clinton as is an opportunist. she has changed her tune to win votes in what i see as her hopefulness for an upcoming Presidential bid.
let us not forget she approved of the war in Iraq, and now is flip flopping because the war has become unpopular. this is becoming commonplace as she caters to the popular opinion.

i don't see how her trip to Israel is going to make an iota of difference to anyone but herself.
