Nope. "Fire Water Burn" borrowed from another song. The name was "The Roof is on Fire", but I can't remember the band besides that it was a Rap band.

EDIT: Early to mid-eighties band. Run D.M.C era.

Nope, I remember I had it on a compilation tape with songs from a bunch of artists. Run D.M.C. had a different song on there, so it couldn't be them.

NWA is sounding a little more likely.

1986 - is when that song came out.
Blood Hound Gang is what google says, but I think they were in the 90's.

Am I forgetting an earlier release?

Yes, you are. Most everything in that song, hell that album, is a refference/parody of something else.

EDIT: Including: Easy-E, The Pixies, Millenium, Star Wars... and that's just that song.

yes that is the origional and the correct title

a quick search on allmusic.com confirms this

Rock Master Scott & the Dynamic Three were responsible for "The Roof Is on Fire" ? one of the most memorable old-school party jams ? a number five dance hit from 1985. The flipside of the release was "Request Line," which also enjoyed chart success by reaching number 21 on the Hot R&B/hip-hop singles chart. Both tracks have appeared on numerous various-artist compilations throughout the years

Bloodhound Gang did a remake of "Tricky" by Run DMC. That may be the song some of your are thinking about.
