Yay for electric fields! If "these folks" were smart, they'd put coils out and tap electricity instead of complaining. A lil' magnetic field isn't going to hurt anything.

We're afraid! We have no rational reason to be afraid but dammit, we're afraid!

Idiots.

Why not?

And no one lives UNDER them. They live next to them.

I've always wanted to live under one; then I could turn them into a big open-air transformer and get free power! Not to mention you could make a bow sight that glowed for forever on its own.... hm, this has potential. (d'oh! pun unintended! :D)

For some odd reason i just don't like the idea of increasing my or my family risk for cancer.

You know there is absolutely no proof of that. In fact, there are over 100 studies that prove the contrary.

Yea for irrational fears!

These power lines are DANGEROUS!!!

Let's demonstrate by standing under them and holding conductors up toward the lines!

Head asplodes, literally.

I don't know if EM fields cause cancer or not but arc flash will sure make ya dead.

Do we know for a fact that they are harmless? The reporter says the jury is still out. Some people will always say "it's harmless" about ANYTHING-- but remember, that we used to think that lead, mercury, gamma radiation, and X rays, asbestos, and cigarettes were harmless.

Did you read my link? Over 100 studies and not one valid, peer reviewed and repeated study has found harm. The vast, VAST majority of evidence says they are harmless.

There is no "jury" to be "out." This is a load of rubbish from a bunch of crackpots and quacks.

I think the magnetic field of the Earth is causing brain tumors.

Yeah, that's right, I said it. Now prove me wrong.

Isn't a magnetic field something different from this? I don't think a magnetic field could ever cause a fluorescent light to glow, and even if it could the earth's magnetic field is weak.

My post was a sarcastic comment meant to make fun of the paranoia running in this thread. Thanks for taking the bait, though. :)
