I can't figure out who makes this stuff, but I'd love to get ahold of the manufacturer to get an RMA, because it doesn't work anymore.

VT
VT3617801T
(not sure if that last 1 is a 1 or an I)
-7
9913

It's a 32MB stick, BTW

the only place yer gonna get an RMA from is the Dealer you bought it from, and even then only if that dealer has a warranty on their DIMMs, from the sound of it, you don't know where it was bought so yer outa luck....

I think it was from circuit city (I actually didn't buy it, a friend did and gave it to me), I contacted them and they told me I had to return it to the manufacturer

I have seen those chip markings before, and I don't recall it being Mosel....I will search and report back.

Nope, it's not Mosel; doesn't have their little symbol on it. May be Viking as cRazYdood said.

I have an ATI Rage II that needs RMA and it has the VT memory chips on it...I knew I had seen them somewhere before. :)

I still can't find anything thru my chip mfg URL's that clue me in on who makes it, but I will keep looking.

A great site for this kind of stuff is:

http://www.chipmunk.nl/DRAM/

although it's getting out of date. It's also not helping with this.

My first guess is Vitesse Semiconductor. IIRC, they used to be a minor player in the memory industry, but I believe that they left it two or three years ago to focus exclusively on the high-bandwidth communication industry (a wise decision IMO).

My second guess is VisionTek, but I thought that were only a DRAM packaging company, not a semiconductor manufacturer.

No idea. I'm stumped. Good luck.

I found out who makes it. I made a note on my computer, but right now I'm on the computer I'm setting up for my mom (bought most of it from Russ ;) ), so I can't find it. Starts with a C, oddly enough. I'll post again when I'm back on my computer

Ok, I found it. I feel bad because I cheated. I went to circuit city and I looked at the RAM they had on display. Same chips. Still in the package, so it has the mfg name on it: Centon (where on earth does the VT come from?)
I'll be giving these guys a call tomorrow. hopefully they'll replace it for me :)
