Who makes this monitor?

Here's a nice looking Dell monitor, but Dell doesn't make monitors so who's monitor does this really belong too? Is it Sony, IBM, Viewsonic?

Link

Is it good? or should I consider another monitor that's available in black?

Maybe a Hitachi, I think they name some of their monitors similar to Ultrascan as your link states - "The Dell UltraScan P991 19-inch (17.952-inch VIS) color monitor is loaded with features at an affordable......" Just a guess.

Dell, Viewsonic are traditional OEM's,(not that there is anything wrong with that) IBM also OEM's monitors, in fact Sony OEMs some of their models. This is a very common practice in the electronics industry. Dell uses many different manufacturers so it is difficult to tell who manufactured the specific model.

What do you get when you buy a system from Dell?
A CPU manufactured by Intel
A power supply most likely from Delta
Software most likely from Microsoft
A disk drive from most likely from Maxtor or Seagate
Monitor manufactured by ???
Keyboard and Mouse manufactuered by logitec
Case from ??

Dell simply assembles the pieces. I'm not saying this is bad just
stating the facts.
