I recently bought a Simpletech 256MB PC133 RAM and I am trying to find out who the manufacturer for the chipset is (manily to find out if this is CAS2 or CAS3 RAM).

This is what is printed on the chips --

VT VT3612804T-7H
3A 0133
73B0132

Any idea who the manufacturer is ?

VT=?

Thanks !

So far, I'm striking out... here's a good starting place for others with similar question. I'll keep nosing around and see if I can find the "VT" references somewhere.

In the meantime, have u tried using something like ctSPD? you can download it here:

http://www.heise.de/ct/ftp/ctspd.shtml (look for the ctspd.zip download link)

This program can read the chips and gives alot of into about them. Oftentimes, the manufacturer's name is written into the SPD chip so you might get a good starting point if it reveals that for you.

SiSoft sandra provides the memory info you seek, just run through the mainboard info module😉

icmp: Great info ... I'll try them out and post the results here.

DAPUNISHER: I have Sandra standard edition 2001.3.7.50 and all that could identify was that I have 3 256MB DIMMs ... but no further info. If there is a later version of Sandra, does that give any more info ?

the version I use is 2001te and provides the info inside of brackets to the left of the info you described.
