Who makes the coolest drive?

Get a Seagate external HD

You gotta be kidding??

Why the surprise? I've got two Seagate external drives (120 and 200 GB) and they run cool. Why list them in your poll if you thought otherwise? Looks like the majority at this point in time like Seagate anyways but I don't know if it is for either external or internal or both.

seagate is the quietest, fastest, and the most reliable of them all. at 7200 rpm, the seagate has the lowest seek time. the only reason why western digital is still alive is because of the raptors. they lost almost 2/3rds of their money a couple years back because of some financial problem. since then, they started suckin. they became loud, unreliable, and their warranty got reduced. as for maxtors, they're great, but loud.

I've found Seagate to be the most quiet and cool.

Amazingly, I've also found the Maxtor 15K.3 SCSI drive to be the most quiet and cool SCSI drive I've ever used! But it's no longer the best 15K drive to chose from.

Ever used a Quantum Fireball back in the day? I swear they called it the FIRE ball for a reason! You'd better have had at least a few case fans!!

Uh, show me benchmarks to back up the "fastest" claim. I will agree with you on quietest and most reliable...

THis if for my XBOX, NOT MY PC! LOL!!!!

Xbox = PC with modified windows 2k.

It does not have the capacity to become a full fledged PC. Yes you can run Linux on it, but its very stripped down with all generic drivers.

But, in order to have an external HDD on the xbox, you would have to split a USB cable with an Xbox USB cable, at that point it may be possible for the xbox to see it as a giant memory card. But as for booting the shell off of an external hdd for the xbox, not happening!
