could you tell me who made the transmission for the 2006 g35 6mt / 350z? jatco only does autos and cvt's.

Jatco is a very new company and isn't the sole supplier of transmissions to Nissan, unlike how Aisin is to Toyota(hasn't used a non Aisin for as long as I ca remember). The thing is even in the last gen G35, I know the G35x used an Aisin-Warner(Borg Warner partners with so many other corporations) automatic hooked up to a Nissan AWD differential and transfer case and even today, the GTR uses a Getrag unit.

I would theorize that the G35 manual probably also used an Aisin unit, who supplies everything from the Porsche 911, Alfa Romeo Brera, Volvo S80, and Mazda RX8. Honestly though, I found it extremely difficult to find any information on nissan transmissions, there is just no documentation out there.

The 2nd gen Toyota MR2 (turbo model) transmission is practically bulletproof. Dunno about anyone else..

Traditional manuals: Aisin

Auto: Porsche's PDK - puts BMW's DCT to shame in terms of smoothness and Nissians DSG in terms of robustness.

Speaking of transmissions, I'm casually looking for a E153 FWD V6 manual 5 speed from a Solara. It's a long shot here on AT, but I could get lucky. They are rare SOBs.

They're pretty cheap

$350 free shipping, 61k miles
$200, $125 shipping 84k miles

That is the 4 cyl S51 model, not the V6 manual.

The E153 is much stronger and what is used on the MR2 Turbo. The manual V6 trans from the Solara is the only FWD adaption of the E153 and is extremely rare. I'd also expect them to be around $500-600 due to the rarity.

A 3SGTE would grenade a S51 faster than you can say "boost" 😛
