people seem to like zonealarm, supposed to be the best. i personally use blackice, but it doesn't scan outgoing traffic, but it works for me. i tried zonealarm, but for some weird reason it lagged up my computer.
Check out www.grc.com for information on internet security and firewalls, you can also test your firewall on his site; blackice has consistently failed some of his tests so I would be wary about it and he really seems to like zonealarm.
I use atguard, although you might not be able to find it easily. It monitors and regulates incoming and outgoing traffic and keeps a log, which is good enough for me. It also has some other features but I don't care for those.
I'm using the Norton Firewall for my DSL connection and have been pleased with it so far. It's easy to set up and configure and passed all the "scan your system for holes, etc" tests I've tried.
