I don't necessarily need the highest performance drive.

Reliability is of the upmost importance, then quiet, non-intrusive acoustics.

Probably looking for either an 80 GB or 160 GB notebook hard drive to put in an enclosure and use to easily transfer data between computers.

* What internal interface connection does the external enclosure support?
* If you need to buy both a HD and enclosure, why go with a 2.5" HD?

SATA or IDE, doesn't matter.

I like the portability of not having to carry around a power brick with the notebook drives.

I think Western Digital and Hitachi hard drives are good for notebook. But if Seagate hard drive for notebook comes with 5 years warranty I would go with Seagate.
