I assume the regular ATI 9600 pro is the best but i can't find it for that so called 150$ price...is there a 9600 pro from another company that has similar stock speed at around the 150$ price?

Sapphire fireblade and ultimate have the best memory in thr Sapphire family. Fireblade = 2.8ns brand (Samsung?) RAM, Ultimate = ??? RAM (2.8ns?) + Zalman heatpipe cooling. Normal Sapphires have 2.8ns Elrontech or 3.3ns Samsung. XTs are too expensive.

Hi All,
I'm not to sure about the xt's being too expensive. I'm pretty sure I spotted a ATI branded 9600xp w/256 meg retail for 169.00 at the computer show today. May have been a 9600 pro, as I was only able to give it a quick glance. I am positive about the amount of ram on it. Either way I think thats a decent price, may be wrong though

Eh..not that great. I'm sure the ram was only clocked at 400mhz, vs the usual 600 for a 128mb pro.

And most 9600 pro's have the same speed as the ati 9600 pro, just as long as you don't get one of the ez versions. You can find non ati 9600 pro's for even less than $150, too.

I personally trust gigabyte which is my 9800pro
Very good card, strictly designed to the plans of ATI, samsung memory, excellent cooling and good o/c.
Pretty high at benchmarks too.
Sapphire is a nice one too as previously stated

THere are several 9600pro cards at newegg
that are around $150 ...

CONNECT3D ATI RADEON 9600 PRO 128MB DDR DVI+TV RETAIL ... $149.00
Transcend ATI Radeon 9600 PRO 128MB CRT+DVI+TV 8X AGP - RETAIL ... $149.50

They all seem pretty good and come with 3.3ns Samsung memory.

The ...

POWERCOLOR ATI RADEON 9600 PRO 128MB DDR DVI+CRT+TV 8X AGP RETAIL

for $159 looks like an exact match to the reference retail ATI 9600pro as far as pcb layout.
