I was looking to buy a notebook memory for my thinkpad and there was no statement about the manufacture of the memory. Does anyone know who makes IBM memory? they are $20 cheaper than Crucial...

Thanks all

I'm not 100% sure, but IBM does make memory chips itself. Just browse their site, I'm sure you'll find them. I have a stick of PC133 SDRAM made by IBM, the chips are also marked 'IBM' and the module was made in Italy. I'm sure all the RAM is alike, thus if it's cheaper go for it.

Notebooks I have no idea, but the last set of machines that we got in here at work were a mixture of HYNIX and Infineon.

My Thinkpad T23 originally came with Samsun PC133 SO-DIMM. Since than I upgraded to Crucial PC133 SO-DIMM to make total of 512MB and I haven't had any problems with memory at all since the upgrade.

Generic memory did not work fine on my IBM Thinkpad. A stick of Kingston did work, but I forgot which model. The memory for IBM laptops are considerably more expensive than the "normal" SO-DIMMs.
