Who makes really large screens for laptops? And what do you think of this lappy?

My sister is getting a new laptop, and the main thing she wants is a huge screen. I speced out a Dell for her, and I think its good. Dell, according to their website, the 15" ultra XGA screen runs at 1600x1200!! Gateway's 15.7" screen, according to a sales rep, runs at 1280x1024 natively. Anyway, here's the new laptop I picked out. I checked out IBM and Sony's website, and neither of them have 15" screens that I could find.

The one thing I don't like about Dell is that they gouge you for RAM, so I just went with the cheap stuff Should I go with the GeForce 2 GO? She won't be playing any games, and its an extra $70 to go with the 32 meg version, although $30 cheaper to go with the 16 meg GeForce 2.

I just bought this laptop and am very pleased with it. You can find it at other online retailers for a couple dollars over $2000. Check pricewatch.com and resellerratings.com

get an apple TiBook, huge screen, much nicer for use as a laptop. Also, you probaly can get a student discount.

the titanium apple is sweet. too bad it's an apple. supposedly Toshiba is doing a 1 gig geforce 2 go soon

IBM does actually make a very nice laptop with a 15" screen, its the a21p. Its very expensive though usually. I do remember seeing one for a very sweet deal in the hotdeals forum the past couple of days. You may want to check it out. I can speak very highly for thinkpads. They are great. The only thing is that it has the eraser thing. I wanted a touchpad also but i found the eraser works alot better. Goodluck.
